The Spirit of Freedom in Religious Belief should not be compromised

The word " freedom" should be construed in its very constituitional sense of the liberty of any individual to embrace or renounce any religion on his/her own accord without any compulsion from any religious body.

The understandings by our co-founders for the Federal Constituition that non-Muslims are not to be subjected to any laws of Syariah court, and for any overlapping disputes involving the jurisditions of civil and syariah courts, civil laws must prevail and should not be overruled.

While the initiative by Pak Lah to make it compulsory for non-Muslims to convert to Islam to inform their family before commiting so should be hailed and viewed as a positive move to address the problems of converts who passed away intestate or having a will duly done with regards to the responsibility of the spouse, custody of children and matter pertaining to inheritance, the spirit of "freedom" in faithbeliefs must not be compromised.

Islam is considered to be a nobled and moderate religion yet its reputation has been tarnished and marred by its implementation and practices of some short-sighted fanatic religious leaders and overzealous Muslim scholars and ulamaks who deviate from the original spirit of a loving and caring charismatic Allah for their personal egos and selfish interests to the extent of waging a meaningless Jihad against dissidents.

If the "FITNA" documentary in You-tube actually bears some insights in what Islam and Muslims are all about against its dissidents, then it would be a matter of time that Islam would be despised and forsaken for its inhumanity and cruelty and should be condemned and avoided.

Please, therefore do not force Islamic teachings, rules and regulations upon other races, instead let the very spirit of constituition takes its natural course and be preserved and maintained the status quo in order to avoid any unduly misunderstandings and misgivings people have on Islam.
